Spelling Bee, January 2009
The 1st - 8th graders participated in a school spelling bee with proud moms, dads, grandparents, friends, classmates, and staff members cheering them on. Following the semifinals, held in the classroom ten days prior to this event, the top two in each grade qualified for the finals.
After a fun song by the Girls Chorus and snack time provided by Home & School, the evening began with the top two first grade spellers going head to head. Oh, it was a bit tense, for parents too, as we all listened to these great kids spell some fun words.
Following the grade finals, a short intermission, and snack time, the master speller finals began. The top speller in each grade was eligible for this part of the evening. Round one saw the finalists spell first grade words. Round two moved all of them up to third grade words. With the words getting more challenging as the rounds continued, the final master speller was finally determined. 'Twas a fun evening in the Spelling Bee arena. Congratulations! Thank you God!
