Parental Involvement Team
By enrolling a child or children, parents are making a commitment to helping their child(ren) and the school be successful. The school requires an average of two hours per month, September-May (or a total of 18 hours per year) of parental help to the school from each family. The Home & School Association, in conjunction with the teachers and administration, organizes and monitors this parental commitment. At the end of the school year, families who do not have their 18 hours fulfilled will be billed for their unfulfilled time at a rate of $10.00 per hour. Parents are encouraged to fill out the time commitment voucher form sent each month and return it to the school office. The deadline for fulfilling and submitting parental involvement hours is June 10, 2011.
We feel that this involvement of each family helps insure the quality of education provided. There are many ways parents can fulfill this commitment: driving for field trips, helping with hot lunches, grading papers, coming to a work bee, working on a Home & School Committee, etc., or if you wish, cash payment in lieu of hours volunteered.
An excellent way for parents to motivate children toward diligence is to review, on a weekly basis, their child(ren)'s schoolwork. Students are much more motivated to excel when they know parents are pleasantly, actively involved in the learning process.
| Adult volunteers are required by law to have a background check. Forms will be included in the registration process with no charge for the background check. |
