Vickie Altman's passion for teaching was first realized when she was about six years old.  She loved school so much that she would come home and develop lessons for her brothers to complete so she could "grade papers".
As she grew older she helped out in the children's divisions at church and just "knew" that teaching was her passion.  College appeared to be out of the question until God began opening door after door for her, and in 1983, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Walla Walla College in Washington state. Subsequently, she has done continuing education classes throughout the years and then completed a Master's Degree in Educational leadership through California State University Sacramento in 2008.
Spending time at the farm with her students! She loves her students!Everyone loves Mrs. Altman!
Her first teaching job was in a first and second grade classroom in the Seattle area.  It was just the beginning of a joy-filled career for her.  In the ensuing years she has taught every grade level from kindergarten to eighth grade and has even included ten years of being a principal.  Her teaching (and learning!) experiences have taken place in Washington, Oregon, and now California.
God is important! He is our only hope. Look how tall you are Brady!
Besides being innovative and creative, a solid knowledge of effective teaching practices is critical to being a great teacher, but Vickie believes that relationships are the most critical component in the whole educational process.  She insists that a relationship with God should be the first one to foster so that all other ones can fall into place.   Knowledge is great, but if a caring heart and positive relationship are not existent, learning will be difficult at best.
Mrs. Altman loves riding her dirt bike in the mountains!
When not wrapped up in a classroom, Vickie's other passions take her to activities that require a helmet.  She is an avid dirt bike and street bike rider.  Waterskiing and snow skiing come in second and third.  Of course, there is never enough time to read as much as she'd like to, but somehow, she finds time to do a lot of that, too!
Vickie's motto is, "To love what you do, and know that it matters...what could be more fun?"
